Educating the Hackee 101

By: Taz~Ranok

Here's my guide for all the hackees out there.

Scenario: You go online and you find out that your Kafra storage, inventory and equipment boxes are clean. (Or better yet, somebody's logged in to your account.) What do you do? Go to Prontera and tell everybody about it??? NO!!! Sheeesh!

#1. Go to the level-up-games website sa may customer care .

Start a customer support ticket by logging in using your MyRagna account. You must provide ALL the following information. As in lahat! Everything! Rar~!!!

1. Time, date, location of last log in before items were missing

2. Time, date, location of log in when items disappeared

3. List of items lost (Wag ka mag iimbento lagot ka lang lalo)

4. Any other information they should know about that would help the investigation

(i.e., argument with another avatar, suspicious avatars with your stuff, etc.)

Warning for false claims: (basahin mabuti)

Users that falsify a hack investigation - users that say they lost an item they never had, increased the value of an item (ex. +2 sword is reported missing as a +4 sword) or actually never lost anything will be BANNED for 15 DAYS. Repeated offenses will result in account deletion.

False complaints only take away time from our real investigations, and create a harmful atmosphere within the community.

Ok so... nakapagpasa ka na ng email. The customer care people will send you a ticket number. (Don't lose this ok?)

What's next? #2. Call LUG's customer care and ask them if they have your e-mail. 6700-7650. They're open from 9am to 4pm on weekdays and 9am to 12 noon on weekends and holidays.

And then? Wait.

dumde dumdumdum... Hindi ka mapakali? Call again... wag masyado makulit ok?

Oo nga pala... pag lampas na ng 24 hours after ka ma-hack, don't report anymore. You're hopeless. Bwahahahaha! evil~~~ And if this is your second time, third time, fourth time... Wag ka na rin mag-report. May tawag na sa yo eh. Wekekekekeke! (Pasintabi po sa mga tatamaan)

Ano pa ba?... humn... Ay oo...

#3. try PMing any of the GMs online.

Try contacting the GMs online. Their names are listed in the Ragnaboards. Make sure you already have your CCT and HD numbers that were sent to your e-mail.

Another effective way I noticed is when you sit at that spot near the Gift Merchant in Prontera. Most of the Customer Support Game Masters do their Public Appearance right there. Be careful though. There are a lot of scammers who take advantage of hack and scam victims.

Note: If you want them to talk to you, at least be nice. They're also human you know. Lolz.

SECURING YOUR ACCOUNT

by Android[16]

Just wanted to share with you some tips on how to secure your account. Marami na rin ako friends na na-hack. I'm sure no one wants that to happen. Despite claims of many na "lam ko na yan..." or "secure naman password ko", the number of hack reports are increasing everyday.

RO players are hacked for the following reasons:

1. na keylogger sila

2. they gave their user name and password to fake GMs

3. they don't delete the emails from RO admin about "password change succesful"

4. they are careless and type their passwords even if other people are behind them

5. masyado sila mayabang sa cafe and announce to everyone what they have

6. they "lend" their accounts to someone else

7. or talagang malas lang ang iba... (at swerte ang iba - I'll explain...)

At any rate, here are some of my tips to avoid being hacked.

1. NEVER TYPE ANYTHING SA CAFE. This may sound impossible but it really is simple. You can go to a cafe with a diskette (or a CD, if you have a burner). There, in your disk, are stored textfiles of your user name and password. Just highlight them and copy (CTRL + C) and paste (CTRL + V) to your RO load up screen! O, e di wala kang na type. The keylogger can't get you. Those who will say na hassle mag dala ng diskette everytime or minsan bawal ang diskette sa cafe, do this: you can "hide" your username and password in your blog or website amidst something like 4,000 words of a story or text. Simply highlight and paste. You can cover the screen with your hands para walang makakita.

2. DON'T OPEN YOUR EMAIL SA CAFE: Eto, paborito ng mga keylogger. Para makuha ang entire account, email muna nyo ang yayariin. Most of the time. lahat ng passwords nyo e na send na ng LUG sa email nyo. So, they can simply use this to get the account completely. If you do have to open you email, open the one without yung mga RO Admin mail. Better yet, delete these emails as soon as you receive them.

3. DON"T SHARE YOUR PASSWORDS. Be VERY VERY paranoid at praning about your passwords. Don't share it kahit kanino... kesyo guilmate mo, GM mo, whoever. Only you and God must know your password!

4. BE SMART IN YOUR PASSWORDS. avoid simple passwords like "cuteme" or "joker". Brute-force hacking use the dictionary. If possible, use special characters and combinations of both uppercase, lowercase letters and numbers. Do you remember yung mga password sa scratch prepaid cards? dapat ganun... pero be sure to memorize them or else...

5. AVOID PLAYING IN CAFES NA MAY AUTO TIME-OUT. There are some cafes na may auto time out. What this does is magkakaron ng "lock" screen at "time ka na" ek-ek. Time ka nga!!! pero RO avatar mo hindi naka log out. This happened to a friend of mine. Kausap ko for about 20 minutes na sa RO, di pa sumasagot. Nag text siya na time-out na daw siya. I told him not to leave the cafe and ask the owner to open his PC and let him log out.

May nangyari daw minsan na swerte. Timeout na yung isang PC, pag upo ng susunod at pagbukas ng screen, may level 80 knight with millions of zenies and items na nakaharap sa iyo? What would you do? This is what I meant na "malas ang iba... swerte naman iba"

6. BE LOW PROFILE. Don't announce to the whole world that you sold your CoC for 7M or you just got a Mistress Card, or have your new novice wear your Golden Gear. Hackers tend to be on the lookout for people like this. It's merely a matter of time before they take note of where you were sitting sa cafe and do their evil work. As much as you'd like to display your headgear and heal clips in public, you may just be sending a signal na "mayaman ako!!! hack me please!". For example, wearing a Fin Helm will automatically anounce your level coz may level requirement yun. So, if possible, maintain a low profile both RO and iRL.

7. CHANGING PASSWORDS. Change passwords regularly. If you make it twice a week, good! pero weekly is fine. btw, DON'T change your password sa Cafe. Do it sa bahay, your mom's office, a friend's house, or another secure PC. Basta wag lang sa cafe... delikado e. You really can't tell kung may keylogger at wala.

And lastly, pag na hack ka... don't waste time in reporting it. Make regular lists of your kafra items and inventory... para ready ka, just in case.
